Back in fine form (literally) the master tailor
who has wowed Hollywood with his amazing suits and drop- dead Red Carpet
evening clothes, showed at the Tents this season (rather than the West
Village studio that had become his signature venue). The line-up was
divided into two parts- his Couture line and a collaboration of men’s
and women’s uniforms for Delta Airlines. Let’s put it this
way, stewards and stewardesses have never looked this good, nor have
any airline employees I’ve recently seen.
What was interesting was that while there certainly were some
beautiful evening gowns (among them, a silver organza strapless tiered
petal dress, a petal peach silk organza gown, a silk tulle hand pleated
goddess gown), it was clearly the day clothes that shined (and mainly
those pieces rendered in the darkest of navy blues). Standouts included
the midnight blue wool double breasted sweater pleated pant, white
stretch cotton shirt with red contrast trim; a midnight blue stretch
wool short double breasted jacket with red ribbon detail shown with
a matching slightly a-lined skirt and white stretch cotton short sleeved
shirt with red contrast trim; a midnight blue abbreviated peacoat with
red ribbon detail paired with matching stretch trousers and another
one of his crisp white stretch cotton shirts also boasting the red
trim. And the group of red taffeta wrap shirtdresses treated for water
and stain proofing (perfect for those stewardesses giving out lunch,
dinner, or tea), not only look good but promise to be highly practical
to boot.
