French born Pierre Carrilero, who has made a name for himself with his hand knits AND his thoroughly French aesthetic is also known for his quirky, offbeat, and highly original runway presentations- you never know what you're going to be treated to. This season, he took us to the elegant and venerable Bar Association of New York to show "The Ninth Seal" collection comprised of his trademark delectable knits done for the most part in very typically autumnal shades of rust, green, brown.

The nice surprise this time, was in the coordination of hats, bags, head warmers, muffs, capes, and legwarmers to the dresses, capes, sweaters and cardigans, in matching knits, which augmented the effect. Even the models' hair was seemingly 'knitted' into very long braids cascading down their backs. I loved the tweed belted and hooded cardigan with matching clutch bag; a gray and rust deep v neck pullover vest shown over a white shirt, with matching knitted cap and mittens; the dramatic floor length hooded tweed cape; an intarsia knitted pullover and hat shown with rust cropped knee length pants; a hooded confetti tweed zip front fitted jacket and knee length pants; and the simple tweed knit chemise, clutch, and matching hat. Pierrot also knitted a group of very typical yet whimsical wintry scenes (a ski lodge on one and several with ducks or geese flying). Best of all, we were treated to "On-the-Go" knit and crochet totes, compliments of the famous Lion Brand Yarn Company, complete with a sampling of some of the mélange yarn used in the show. Now I can knit my very own creation at home!
