Thoroughly defiant and nonconformist, the bohemian Clements Ribeiro woman expresses her distinctive sense of style by shunning cookie-cutter fashion statements. Dressed in multi-tiered gypsy skirts, checkered military inspired jackets, and cap sleeved retro cardigans she is uninhibited and unique. Her feminine slip dresses (embellished with flower appliqués), tweed jackets, fur-lapel coats and chunky wool socks are a proclamation of independence from trends and seasonal fads. Clements Ribeiro’s new collection conjures up images of a St. Martins art student going though her grandma’s old trunks to unearth fashion finds. In fact Clements Ribeiro’s Fall 2005 collection is perfect for a post-modern Frida Kahlo type; quaintly charming and arrestingly poignant.
