By Christine Suppes

This Fashionlines favorite did not disappoint. Mr. Sorbier showed his spring collection “ Loveland” at the Lido, featuring the onstage African sounds of Manu Dibango and three vintage Cadillacs. The joy and the energy of this collection were in dramatic contrast to Mr. Sorbier’s sober and somber autumn 2004 show. Exuberant, knee length full skirts with long, slim torsos in the fabulous crinkly silk Mr. Sorbier is known for stood out, both in colorful prints and in blacks and whites. We wanted to dance the night away in these desirable dresses that harkens back to a little girl’s ballerina dreams of flounces and prancing around the garden. Supermodel Adriana Karembeu’s onstage arrival in a white Cadillac was a sublime couture moment. Mr. Sorbier is a national treasure.
