Right around the time new generation fashion aces are referencing Gianni Versace left and right, the legendary designer’s rightful heir is beating to the beat of her own glam-rock drum. This season, echoing her fellow countrywoman Prada’s somber and intellectual message, Donatella is putting an haute chic twist on restraint.

For Fall 2006, having axed deep plunges and intricate embellishments altogether, the infamous Blondie is all about A-line silhouettes, luxurious fabrics and “women standing up for their opinions.” Toning down the sexappeal Ms. Versace lets her divinely cut and expertly constructed clothes shine.

The must have pieces from the Autumn Versace collection are the luxurious coats. The choices are extensive, as preppy peacoats, crock trenches, satin double breasted military jackets and fur trimmed astrakhans are ubiquitously represented in the lineup. Streamlined and structured these babies are to die for.
