Academy of Art University Fashion 2004
San Francisco—five fashion graduates of San Francisco’s Academy of Art University have won coveted internships with three top designers. Joan Kaner, Senior Vice President and Fashion Director of Neiman Marcus was on hand to receive an honorary degree from the university and to select the winner of the Ralph Rucci apprenticeship, which went to Rowena Saunders. High profile designer Jeremy Scott picked Lynn Christiansen and McKell Maddox to work in New York with him. Up and coming designer Sebastien Pons selected Jill Giordano and Ernesto Fernandez Alvarez to join his atelier in Spain. Pons and Scott also received honorary degrees.

The show, produced by MFA Director Simon Ungless, was a professional and exciting peek at new talent. Fashionlines has picked our favorite ensembles along with the winning designs. Congratulations to Executive Director Gladys Perint Palmer...and to all the graduating students.
