MAURIZIO GALANTE HAUTE COUTURE 2006

By Margaret Pluvinage

An intergalactic journey embarking from Planet Earth, London 1960, destination Planet Venus 2006. Twiggy, Jean Shrimpton, and Penelope Tree have spent the last four decades traveling intergallactically, taking in La mode de le Space. The result is multiuniverse fashion, which can only work in les petites mains de haute couture. Obviously the "it" girls of the sixties have made some stops in Asia. The Asian influence is strong in the 21st century and with a result only possible by the haute couture of Maurizio Galante. A short fitted dress elaborately embroidered with reflective discs and silk organza is perfect for a night out on Planet Venus. One is reminded of the images of Penelope Tree in the dresses of Paco Robane and Courrege. A short white silk tunic dress covered in white swan feathers embroidered with silver pearls will work on any planet that believes in romance. A burgundy silk gown draped with pearls and hiding sequins in folds of lace is the perfect dress for celebrating with Cupid on planet Venus. For a more earthly look a chi pao style dress in yellow silk topped with a coat embroidered with flowers of pastel colors and lined in yellow silk prove that life can exist in space and make for a perfect spring statement on any planet. This is a collection with Venus in mind as it is all about universal beauty and love!
