FROM LONDON

Sedef Kokcuoglu has filed her London Fashion reviews, and reports that the overall London Look remains youthful, quirky, and joyous. It was great to see supermodel Naomi Campbell back in London where she started out at the tender age of 15.

FROM THE 2005 ACADEMY AWARDS

Lovely Natalie Portman ("Closer") chose Fashionlines Favorite Lanvin by Alber Elbaz for the 2005 Academy Awards. Paris Editor Timothy Hagy also reports that Maggie Cheung ("Clean"), Sofia Coppola ("Lost In Translation"), Jean-Paul Rouve ("Podium"), Jean Marc Moutout (Best Foreign Film) and André Dussolier ("36 Quai des Orfèvres") also picked Lanvin for the ceremony. Bravo all, including Alber!

FROM MILAN

Sedef Kokcuoglu covered Milan Autumn 2005 and tells us that Black is Back with a vengeance. When Christian Lacroix designs a Pucci collection with serious black overtones, we can concur that Black is the new Black and all the other one liners we know and love about this often-seen fashion phenomenon.

FROM PARIS

We are already sick of pointy toed flats. Here is a womanly pair of shoes by one of our favorites, Rodolphe Menudier.

FROM SAN FRANCISCO

Modernism's Martin Muller was a recent subject in Carolyne Zinko's profile for the San Francisco Chronicle What's the avant-garde up to? Ask Martin Muller. His S.F. gallery leads the way in Modernism.

FROM PARIS

Paris Editor Timothy Hagy and Fashionlines photographer Marie-Béatrice Seillant are covering Paris Autumn 2005 Prêt-a-Porter.  To remind our readers of the consummate chic of Paris fashion, here is a model from the Rochas Spring 2005 runway.

FROM PARIS AND THE PYRÉNÉES

Our Paris friends Josiane and Daniel Fruman have created one of the largest and best collections of European liturgical embroideries between the 15th and 18th centuries, as well as American quilts they believe are the first beginnings of Pop Art. These priceless treasures may soon have a permanent home in a palais épiscopal in the beautiful town of Mirepoix, located in the Pyrénées. We will keep our readers updated about the progress of this new museum which is so important for the history of embroideries and therefore couture itself.
