Julien’s girls have grown up to become prim and proper young women. Dressed in silk blouses, wool cardigans, and pencil skirts, these reinvented wild children now flaunt sophistication with an edge.

For Fall 2005, borrowing a page from Miuccia Prada’s book, Mr. Macdonald constructed demure cigarillo pants, romantic mermaid skirts, immaculate two-piece suits, and flowing supple dresses cast in reserved grays, modest charcoals, and sedate browns with splashes of azure, aqua, amethyst, gold, and burgundy. The must have piece for the J.Macdonald atumnal look is a silk blouse with voluminous sleeves. Sleek and stylish to the core one can match this fashion staple with a crochet skirt or a pair of high waisted trousers for an equally polished look.

Some of the more risqué pieces the designer showcased were luxurious mink bomber jackets, arabesque shalvar pants, chunky knit kaftans, irreverent ripped jeans and massive tulle tops. Clearly diverging from the hourglass shaped silhouettes defining the rest of the collection, these articles of clothing made references to Julien’s uniquely bold and defiantly rebellious niche.
