FROM NEW YORK VIA SAN FRANCISCO
Academy of Art New York Show
For the first time ever, San Francisco's Academy of Art University will introduce their brightest fashion stars to New York City. On Thursday, November 4th at 7:00 pm at Splashlight Studios, Fall 2004 graduating students will give the US fashion capital a taste of their talent in a special runway show. Several fashion leaders including Joan Kaner, Senior Vice President and Fashion Director of Neiman Marcus, will be honored at the event with the announcement of new Academy of Art scholarships in their names specifically designated for New York-area students. These $25,00 scholarships will allow talented students the opportunity to study at the prestigious art and design school. The School of Fashion has grown in size and reputation with close to 900 students studying under the tutelage of Executive Director Gladys Perint Palmer. The school's BFA and MFA fashion programs offer majors in womenswear, menswear, textile design, knitwear design, fashion merchandising, and visual merchandising.
