 PARIS, July 4, 2006 - There certainly were lots of super men at the Thierry
Mugler presentation on Monday in company headquarters - the collection was
presented on live models standing on risers in a gallery. Entitled "Comix",
and designer by Thomas Englehart, the pieces were said to be inspired by
American science fiction comics from the 50s and 60s. The guy with sculpted
abs that wore the tiny bikini got the most attention from the fashion crowd,
which was otherwise content to tipple fine, chilled champagne.
Metal laced leather shirts and fabrics blended with various kinds of sequins
gave the effect of a second skin to some of the pieces. Otherwise, rounded
collars and skinny suits brought a clean finesse to this summertime
collection.
