Cacharel
PARIS, October 5, 2006 - Cacharel's spring collection, designed by British
duo Clements Ribeiro, was inspired by the photography of Sarah Moon. Her
images from the 70s and 80s suggested a narrative hinting at sensual
innuendoes. How that translated on the runway was easty to see - the
collection was full of beautifully embellished pieces and notable for it's
lack of pretension. The sleek design of a one strap short cotton dress, or
the featherweight printed cocktail dresses certainly carried more than a
whiff of seduction. But more importantly, especially from a marketing
perspective, the clothes sang out the power of youth. Skirts were wound with
studded black bands, and plastic jackets pealed back, almost as a flower's
petals unfolding. The ideas all worked. Mustard-yellow, iris-blue, the
colors for spring looked refreshing.
Inacio Ribeiro made a solo appearance on the catwalk this season since
Suzanne Clements stayed in London to give birth to the couple's second child
- a girl.
