Beyond the Bank — Liu Qinghe Works, hosted and curated by renowned art critics Fan Dian and Yin Shuangxi, will be exhibited at the National Art Museum of China from March 28 to April 5, 2007. There will be over forty pieces of Liu Qinghe's new ink and wash works, with the reception starting at 3 pm on March 28. Liu Qinghe was born in 1961 in Tianjin City. He graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) in 1987, and is now Deputy Professor at CAFA. Liu Qinghe is one of the earliest pioneers to develop the role of ink and wash painting and in using the medium to depict contemporary life. Since he exhibited in New Generations Art Exhibition in 1991 at the History Museum, his sustained efforts have produced a series of images in ink and wash which have become a representative symbol of contemporary painting. Liu's art practice has played an active role in the promotion of Chinese ink painting.
