Sonia Rykiel

March 2, 2007 - The Best of Paris guides must surely include Sonia Rykiel. She did, after all, redecorate the bar in the venerable Hôtel de Crillon. And her chic, unpretentious clothing somehow has the quintessence of Paris in it. It's full of coquetry and playfulness, a lightness that is inherently French.

You could smell that perfume in a series of ruffled dresses in various degrees of transparency, or in the cabbage ornaments placed on either side of a plunging ruby red satin dress, or in the gauzy film of scarlet tulle as it twisted and twirled around the body. Add in long elbow gloves, beautiful knits and necklaces that appeared to be strung of Christmas ornaments, and you have the formula.
