If Miuccia Prada’s Fall 2006 collection had an antithesis, it was Anna Molinari’s Blumarine lineup. Completely contrary to her fellow Italian’s bid to exalt seriously intellectual dressing; Ms. Molinari made a case for exuberant and larger-than-life clothes.

Every embellishment known to man, from embroidery to fur accents, made its opulent appearance on the Blumarine runway. A parade of ornamented dresses, cast in zingy colors like yellow, blue, purple, orange and gold lamé, peeked from under lush coats. Candy like sweaters in jewel tones accessorized every ensemble. Lace and chiffon gowns trailed on the floors in cascades. Here, more was unquestionably more.

Blumarine’s overall attitude was one of unapologetic luxury. This kind of indulgent opulence might not tickle everyone’s fancy, but the label’s prolific success is proof enough that there is a fit for every shoe.
