Pegah Anvarian catapulted her name into he fashion connoisseur’s lexicon when her fluid cashmere-blend asymmetrical dresses in brilliant jewel tones became instant hits with Hollywood stars. To Fashionlines’ delight Pegah continues to mature with each passing season, proving wrong the skeptics who prophesized that the Persian talent would stagnate in the niche she captured.

Last autumn Pegah experimented with dark herringbone and houndstooth wools; molding the heavy fabrics into sophisticated constructions. But with the arrival of the spring the young talent lightens up her touch and ushers in brilliant hues like tangerine, plum, hot pink, azure, amethyst, crimson and turquoise. The standouts in the collection are sexy chiffon dresses with fluid hems and revealing neck décolletés, but ironically Pegah is at her best when she is not trying so hard. Case and point – while Ms. Anvarian’s creamy mocha brocade trench with outsized lapels makes a fine case for refined elegance, some of her more embellished pieces tread the fine line between opulence and ostentation.
