Fiona Sinha and Aleksandar Stanic are in good company of young talents, like Derek Lam and Doo.Rai, who make sophisticated clothes for distinguished ladies of refined taste. Successfully controlling the urge to go overboard in a defiant attempt to shock --that is characteristic of exuberant 20 somethings-- the dynamic duo from England steers towards simple élan.

Starting the show with a simple, short camel coat with skinny lapels, clinched at the waist; Fiona and Aleksandar foreshadowed a long progression of sensible, yet chic creations. The interesting origami-like collar formations they came up with, accentuated the unflinching attention paid to cut, construction and tailoring. Beautiful cropped jackets, skinny pants, coats were noteworthy.

The evening looks reflected an intelligent inclination to experiment with volume, in the context of blooming skirts and extensive drapes, but the shoulder epaulettes, side panels and upper arms encrusted with pailettes were a little much. Intricate embellishment has the undesired effect of overwhelming a line, banking on minimalism.

Overall, Sinha Stanic’s new creations are demure, but devoid of formaldehyde tinged conservatism.
