Foxy Lady

Nony Tochterman proclaimed: “For my Fall 2005 Collection, I have been inspired by the glamour of the late 70’s and early 80’s European Club scene – the Discothèques. The iconic images of women like Bianca Jagger and Lauren Hutton, clubbing in Paris, looking chic in perfectly tailored jackets, graphic and bold printed silk dresses – they exuded a soft yet powerful sexiness.” Nony’s collection reopens the disco ball clubs and ushers this image of the foxy lady into contemporary times.

Indeed, the new Petro Zillia look is far more sexy and grown up than it has ever been. For Autumn, Nony replaced her trademark flower appliqué suede skirts and petticoat prom dresses with animal print chiffon halter gowns, body hugging knit pieces, and streamlined coats. To emphasize the stark contrast between day and evening wear, Ms. Tochterman juxtaposed bespoke suits against gilded party garbs. Standouts in the bubbly pink-haired designer’s show were wide legged wool trousers with deep cuffs as well as argyle print jackets, underscored by exaggerated shoulders and outsized revers. To boot, Nony’s bias cut circle skirts matched with graphic-print blouses were inspired reinterpretations of the seductively sleek fashions of the bygone eras.

Bianca Jagger may not have descended upon the catwalk on a white horse, but still the clothes Nony Tochterman showcased were positively playful, definitely eccentric.
