Yohji Yamamoto has hit a home run again, with the presentation of his spring 2007 collection for Y-3. Adidas has extended Yamamoto’s contract to 2010, after his presentation of the collection last Wednesday(September 13, 2006). The collection was show at Pier 40 in New York, with a backdrop of barges lit with neon lights, floating on the Hudson. The collection suggested an Edwardian feel with Yamamoto’s modern design and his usual colors of black, white, and orange. There were large rimmed hats worn with baggy, tank dresses, and black, silver striped sneakers. My favorite pieces were the super stretch tops, which were pulled in all different directions by the models as they walked down the runway. Could comfort be the new trend?
