Elie Saab kicked off Haute Couture week with his glittering red carpet gowns worn as always by the most beautiful models with flat ironed hair and natural make up. Dita von Teese was in the audience, looking fragile and tiny, fresh from her break up with husband Marilyn Manson. All of us cheered Elie on. The mood is more somber this season, in keeping with the times. It was difficult, looking at Elie’s show, to remember that his native Lebanon was under fire a mere six months ago.
