Bora Aksu
Bora Aksu’s is known for incorporating ephemeral fantasy to fashion. But in his bid to give life to mythical creatures clad in chiffon gowns accented with elaborate wood carvings the designer has often walked a thin line. His work from previous seasons lacked wearability. Too elaborate, artsy and impractical for most occasions, Bora’s autumnal nymphs and winter wonderland dolls were hard to translate into everyday looks. This season, overcoming his desire to create art for arts sake, the Young Turk channels his genius into clothes that just work. The experimentation with color, line and construction is still there, but it is more manageable and relevant.
