The Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University announces "Living Traditions: Arts of the Americas," opening April 18, 2007, then continuing as an ongoing exhibition. This transformation of the art of the Americas galleries features work from diverse Native American peoples and times, new commissions of Northwest Coast art, and important collections of California, Southwest, and Mesoamerican art.

The Cantor Arts Center is open Wednesday - Sunday, 11 am - 5 pm, Thursday until 8 pm, including Easter Sunday. Admission is free. Scherrer Appoints New Artistic Director
Jean Louis Scherrer has appointed Bouchra Jarrar to be its new artistic director. The designer will create women's ready-to-wear and accessories (the label shut down the couture division at the end of 2005), and is scheduled to show her first collection for the label in October. "Scherrer is a name that inspires respect and appeals to me evoking an extreme elegance," says Bouchra Jarrar, in a press release. "I love all the codes of mystery and ultra-femininity from Scherrer. His sophisticated chic inspires me." After studying fashion in Paris, Jarrar designed jewelry for Jean Paul Gaultier before moving to Balenciaga, where she she worked alongside Nicolas Ghesquiere for nearly ten years. Scherrer was founded in 1963, and in its heyday dressed such iconic legends as Jacqueline Kennedy and Rachel Welch.

Benetton Opens in Karachi

The international chain of department stores Benetton is launching in Karachi at Shop No. 2, Mustafa Heights, Main Shaheed-E-Millat Road. The opening ceremony will be performed on Thursday the May 10, 2007. Mr. Domenico Benincasa, Consul General of Italy will be the guest of honor at the opening ceremony. United Colors of Benetton was the first ever foreign franchise in Pakistan across all verticals (food, entertainment, fashion). It started its operations in Pakistan in 1995 with 6 outlets in the country. Benetton opened its first store in Paris in 1969. Sue Wong Donates Prom Dresses

Designer Sue Wong celebrated her birthday at Sharon and Kelly Stone's "Class of Hope Prom 2007" — along with prom dress clad celebrity guests Melanie Griffith, Fergie, Ashley Jones and others. Wong donated an astounding 300 of her most popular prom dresses in honor of the occasion to be distributed by the Stone sisters' organization, Planet Hope ( to girls across the country who are unable to afford the cost otherwise. "I think real glamour is the elegance of doing something beautiful. Sue Wong's donation of her gorgeous dresses to underprivileged young ladies so that they may attend their prom is an example of great style," said Sharon Stone. There were over a dozen VIP guests in attendance wearing Sue Wong's gowns including actress Ashley Jones and Eric Benet's daughter India.
