PARIS, March 3, 2006 - Junko Shimada sent out a vivacious collection on Friday evening in the Salon Impérial of the Paris Weston. Bucking the trend towards basic black, Shimada's pieces burst full of a checkerboard of lime, emerald, melon and tangerine. A fluorescent pink ensemble with a transparent top caused one editor (attired in monocle, beret and multiple ear piercings) to break out in a sweat.

Some of the fine silk prints looked like they had been taken from an oriental screen, and a plastic cape trimmed in faux fur worn over a a gold chain black cocktail dress rounded out the collection.
