PARIS, July 4, 2006 - Korean designer Wooyoungmi chose an old theater in
Montmartre as setting for her show on Monday evening. Silhouettes fluttered
from behind two transparent screens placed on either side of a ramp, as
models trooped down and back, pausing briefly before an audience sipping cold
green tea. Black suits, bowlers, jackets rolled up sleeves extended, a shirt
with a built in vest on the back side: all of it seemed strangely uninspired
this season. The color scheme of black, charcoal, navy and white grew heavy,
looking at times more wintry than summery. Wooyoungmi always works with lots
of detail, though much of the finer touches were lost to the eye-catching
modern dance being performed behind the screens.
