It's looking very eighties, ladies. I remember so many of these pieces that it's almost frightening. As I have vowed never to repeat a fashion season look, I may need to do some creative interpretation. Here it is —

1. Leggings — who can forget these? Remember the ballerina frenzy that accompanied this look, taking it all the way to leg warmers? No one has time for ballet classes anymore. So we’ll stick with the leggings.

2. Sweater dresses — I saw a beautiful black knit dress at Chanel that had a twelve inch high waistband. It was a little corset-like, and that was the main difference from sweater dresses in the eighties.

3. Berets — Monica Lewinsky has not managed to kill off this perennial favorite.

4. Jewel tones — the sound of this always makes me nervous. I see myself trapped in an old lady Arizona boutique where the owner in a western style get up is trying to sell me a cocktail dress in "jewel tones". Be careful with these colors unless the gown or piece is very well designed and in very fine material.

5. Velvet — I love velvet but then I was a little girl who wanted to be a hippie. Geoffrey Beene claimed he hated velvet but he gave me a velvet scarf which I treasure.

6. The cocoon look — let me tell you what this look is good for, and I hope I am not stepping on anyone's toes—it is the perfect look for pregnant women—you will look feminine and lovely and the shape of the dress (I said dress, NOT skirt) will make your legs look longer.

7. Plaid — don't think it can't be done in a way you won’t love. Check out the Chanel website, and then adjust your vision to your price point and go from there. You will find something special in plaid this season. It might even be a subtle pastel plaid that you fall in love with.

8. Booties — yes, ankle boots. These are kind of cute when you are swishing around in an adorable little skirt and jacket. Booties are also Capri pant savvy if you know what you are doing. I do not, so I am avoiding this look.

9. Black Voile — my favorite look for all of us this fall. We will be sneaking it into our daytime wardrobes under our jackets, and flaunting it at evening.

10. Lady-like — cover up and be mysterious. Remember, Tom Ford went to fashion heaven and he's never coming back.
