Versace
Written by Sedef Kokcuoglu

Donatella Versace is finally reclaiming her brother’s legacy. After abandoning her "rock-on" mantra characterized by crock jackets, skin tight python pants and excessive black eyeliner, the infamous "blondie" is rediscovering her brand’s strength, namely draped jersey dresses, razor sharp pantsuits and the medusa. This season the Versace woman is alluring, feminine and classy. She is someone you would expect to see in the Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo, sipping on ice tea and throwing tempting, yet demure side glances.

Donatella’s color palette for Spring 2005 consists mainly of pastels though some noteworthy pieces are cast in electric hues like yellow, orange and azure blue. The irresistibly tantalizing sexy dresses that take center stage in the new collection are defined by plunging necklines, and deep slits. Signature V pant suits in solid black and white, cut to perfection and tailored with excellent craftsmanship, are smoking with sizzle. Finally, the highly nostalgic multi-colored scarf prints Ms. Versace recycled in the form of delicate silk dresses are elegant and graceful.

The overall feel of Versace’s new look is polished, glamorous and ladylike. This long expected return to true Gianni-esque feminine splendor is indeed a triumphant coup for Donatella.
