A Smorgasbord of Ideas
With chocolate abstract designs, blown like kisses onto a mint green cocktail dress, Dice Kayek's show rose with much expectation. Cocoa, beige and mocha, her retro-looking pleated skirts and cape-jackets were interspersed with lace bordered lingerie-dresses in a mélange of ideas. But like the soufflé which collapsed, the show rapidly deflated, falling flat it would seem, for lack of a clear recipe.
For evening, the young designer, sent out a gorgeous thin-silhouette apricot silk trench, and then a medley of pastel rose and lavender chiffon dresses dusted with sequins. But the bizarre gray sheer top, with appliqué that resembled fried eggs, probably should have been cut from the menu.
With no particular theme, and lots of eclectic combinations, the individual pieces were, nonetheless, highly wearable. And that's a feast for the eyes - in the view of the long list of financial backers.
