Christian Lacroix knows how to swirl up a storm for Emilio Pucci. Twirling, spinning, looping, winding, snaking, weaving, and coiling colorful stripes. Multihued, rich, vivid, vibrant patterns, just right for a stroll down the streets of Porto Cervo or a leisurely lunch in St. Raphael. Lacroix's lithe off the shoulder dresses, lissome spaghetti strap asymmetrical little numbers and fitted halter tops all communicate sensual, smoldering sex appeal. Accentuating the curves and emphasizing luxurious comfort, these ensembles are an open invitation to a fiesta all year around. However translating Pucci's fun, sunny Mediterranean message into warm clothes for the winter months is quite a challenge. For fall 2004 Lacroix tackled this conundrum by embossing brown wool suits, thick grey cropped pants and dense sweaters with traditional Pucci prints. The results fell desperately short of tantalizing the senses and igniting the fashion spirit. The combination of gloomy, heavy fabrics with the trademark Pucci look was awkward and disappointing. However Lacroix's lively coats, distinct with geometrical shapes in citrus, pink, cream and coffee, finished off with massive fox collars worked like magic. Fashionlines believes that these exuberant, colorful pieces --combined with fedoras and high heeled boots-- are the must have pieces of autumn, if you wish to communicate a sassy, playful attitude.
