Refined Sensuality
Written by Christine Suppes, Photography by Alain Rousseau
PARIS, July 8 - A show this beautiful should rightly begin with the story behind the makeup look. We understand that the beauty direction was for a glamorous "hard" look, reminiscent of the seventies disco era, with a nod back to the forties. The hair was pulled up away from the face and the eyes were heavily lined.
The results were breathtaking---a perfect compliment to Mr. Saab’s ultra feminine, ultra romantic clothes, which featured lots of crystal beading, fur boleros and fabulous gold embroidery. We loved the green mousseline dress with subtle darker print and embroidered paillettes.
The dear little shrug atop the model’s shoulders was chic and powerful. In fact, the collection was not for weaker sisters among us. Each ensemble exuded womanly strength and refined sensuality.
The woman in Elie Saab is striding with confidence to a soiree in mid-town Manhattan, Beverly Hills or the many international watering holes that have embraced this designer. We love Elie Saab---he has become one of our favorite couturiers of the season.
