PARIS Spring 2004

Admittedly bucking the trend for the soft, low-keyed, and ladylike, Behnaz, who was inspired by the Pop Artist Roy Lichtenstein, went downright short, tight, and sexy this season (though never vulgar- she is still 'girly'). As usual, "graphic and linear" is still the thread through the collection- as always- but as she put it, one of the fun things about being a fashion designer is the element of change and the ability to surprise.

Behnaz certainly surprised everyone with her hard edged fitted and molded to the body black patent jackets and mini coats (her coats as always, are impeccably tailored); thigh high fitted mini dresses; her black zip front dress with bathing suit strap back; and her cheeky take on strapless: she layered mini white or black tank dresses under pink and white gingham checked bustiers for a fresh take on layering.
