The talented and offbeat group comprised of Adi, Ange, K.A.I., and Gabi, who have been called "likely the entire industry's biggest fashion kooks" by WWD, question why anybody would want to wear dull, boring, black, when you can shine in gold. They have certainly made a name for themselves with their innovative ideas. Working out of their Lower East Side studio, they sell to Barneys New York, where they definitely have a following.
This season- their first showing at the Bryant Park tents- the foursome was inspired by the sun, which is evident in their abundant use of gold (gold lame, gold metallics, gold sequins): their modernized take on Ancient Greece. On display were their now famous innovative shapes and cuts- spirals, circles, asymmetry- done with a very modern touch. I loved that they mixed classically routed togas and voluminous soft tops with very interesting pants (their signature streetwise styles are rendered in a variety of interesting ways), and that they went against the grain and showed flat gold sandals instead of high heeled sandals. This helped imbue that modern, throwaway chic feeling. The finale brought the house down- a model encased in a gold bodysuit walked out accompanied by the house's white pit bull also similarly garbed in gold.
