Richard Tyler is the master of exquisitely tailored striking clothes. Light fabrics, graceful silhouettes and natural elegance define the designer's signature look. Tyler, though Australian, combines the ethos of American design with the impeccable craftsmanship of European Couture tradition to create luxurious clothes.
Romance was the defining theme of Tyler's work for Spring 2004. All Tyler Couture creations, ranging from a silk organza peak lapel multi-vented suit to a silk chiffon hand-painted beaded gown, had an overall feel of lightness and purity. Even Tyler's celebrated pantsuits famous for their finesse and expert constructions came in innocent colors such as ivory and white. The message of tender romance was further reinforced by pretty bridal wear pieces embellished with silk roses, billowing tulle skirts and intricate embroideries. And let's not forget the three angelically beautiful children who sprinkled the stage with white rose petals. It was unadulterated beauty.
However there were a few outfits, such as a silk organza ribbon detail top and silk chiffon pleat skirt that mixed elements of seduction and spice into the collection. A gold embroidered strapless top and gold embroidered scallop skirt explored the territory of risqué glamour.
The defining moment of the evening came when the stunning model Erin, who had closed Tyler's previous show in an LA by placing a kiss on her model friends' lips, strolled down the runway wearing a silk organza gathered bust scarf hem dress. Erin was heavily pregnant, but as dazzling as ever! Apparently Tyler has a taste for twists in the plot.
