MERCEDES-BENZ SHOWS LA
PEGAH ANVARIAN

Pegah Anvarian who proclaims her style to be influenced by the timeless sophistication of vintage Halston was inspired by the film "Black Orpheus" when creating "Brazil Underwater." Anvarian's debut collection, rich with vibrant colors such as lilac, orange, citrus, turquoise and pink, brimmed with the carefree exuberance of a coastal paradise. Opting to use supple and lithe fabrics such as cashmere and silk jersey Anvarian draped and cut her pieces to create sinuous clothes that glide around the curves. The designer's fresh and sexy garments were spiced up with distinct gold rings, revealing cuts and convertible multi-functional concepts. Form fitting jump suits, asymmetrical jersey tunics and mini dresses embellished with strategically slashed out necklines and side panels (individually hand died, cut and sewn by Anvarian herself) made up a young and girly assortment of popsicle clothes that celebrated the playful seductive energy of youth.

The Genie Jumpsuit with billowing pants, the String Dresses with a striking décolleté and the Scoop Front Hole Dress with ship-wreck-tattered skirts were among the many colorfully opulent, teasingly coy, luxuriantly precious clothes Anvarian showed during Mercedes-Benz Shows LA. My personal favorite-a definite must-buy for my next trip to a location of smoldering tropical rapture-was a purple V halter dress with orange trim, deep side slit and a gold ring fastened at the navel. Simply perfect for walking the streets of Rio during Carnival.
