Hollywood A List Parties

A lady sitting next to me kept asking, "Is this the bride dress? Is this the bride dress?" after each model walked down the runway. It was easy enough to wonder, as Mr. Lacroix has all but abandoned day wear, and his creations are more ethereal and special than ever. Mr. Lacroix said his them was the "Flemish Flamenco" according to the International Herald Tribune, but we kept seeing only Flamenco, which is deep in the designer's roots. Mr. Lacroix is from the south of France, and his brilliant and fearless color sense reflects this heritage. For instance, lime green mixes with hot pink. Mr. Lacroix has always favored a colorful stocking for the leg, and now nearly all couturiers are following this concept. The famous embroiderer Lessage, who does all the work at Chanel since they bought his firm, confided to a young friend of mine at the party that closes Couture week, "I preferred the embroidery at Lacroix." The young man took a deep breath and introduced himself. "I am Andre de sa Pessoa and our company on aura tout vu did the embroidery for Lacroix." It was a most unusual moment during Couture week, a master paying homage to a young designer.
