Zac Posen is a mere 22, a name to reckon with, and he obviously loves the female form. He nabbed Naomi Campbell for his show, and seated front row and were such stars as Natalie Portman, Julianne Moore, and Bernadette Peters, who claimed dresses her for many big events, and whom her husband loves because as he puts it, “Zac always shows a woman’s breasts and legs, and that’s the way a woman should look!”

Zac is sophisticated beyond his years, and has a real grasp of American sportswear, as well as the idea of day into evening, and he seems to be very influenced by the glamorous days of Hollywood in the 40’s. His spring show was very dressed up, exhibited a great understanding of cut and fit, and was filled with intricate details.
Dresses, both long and short, as well as separates, displayed his love for the architectural and feminine, and he is obviously enchanted with the idea of face framing tops. Speaking of dresses, one of his most witty designs was a trompe l’oeil dress that actually seemed to be three pieces- a vest, a top, and a short flippy skirt.

Proving that nothing grabs one’s attention like the color red, his knockout asymmetrically draped top midcalf jersey dress on Alek Wek was a real entrance maker. He even managed to make the most of black- he used a man’s ruffled tuxedo shirt as the inspiration behind a short ‘deconstructed’ shirtdress, as well as a long torso fitting dress with a cascade of ruffles all over the hemline.

Kal Ruttenstein, who has been a big supporter of Zac’s since the beginning, had nothing but praise for his talent and his professionalism. He not only claims that ever since carrying the designer’s fall line for Bloomingdale’s, they have sold out of 40% of everything in stock, but he credits him with showing up for a personal appearance the night before his fashion show!
