The L. A. based designer won the CFDA Perry Ellis Award for New Talent last year, and he continued on with the same feeling this time around- precision tailoring, fluidity and grace, all imbued with an off beat, eccentric, very un-L.A. vibe (no sunny colors or florals here). He also showed his first small capsule of menswear.

Unusual fabrics like washed leather and kangaroo skin added to the eclectic and slightly ‘off’ feeling of clothing that was architectural, intellectual, and predominantly black and white (he especially likes to mix whites and pales together for maximum effect). He had many versions of spring’s favorite jacket- the bomber- used sweater knits throughout, favored a silhouette that wrapped and tied around the waist, and has a penchant for full pants that are so long that they drag on the floor. His shoe of choice was a heavy white patent platform sandal.

The most interesting aspect of his collection is the drape and cut (a bias cut) which allows him to create a jacket that looks deceivingly skinny, but is actually quite forgiving, comfortable, and easy to wear (which is no small feat). As he put it, "effortless is sexy," …that is the effect he is going for, and that is the effect he achieves.
