Lars Nilsson continues to prove that that he is his own man- and while he is staying true to many of the traditions put forth by the late and legendary Bill Blass, his handcrafted, homemade, Scandinavian roots shine through the all-American collection. While sometimes things often got a bit tricky, overall, it did work.

Lars can obviously cut a mean suit, and the pinstriped suits (matched and mismatched) that opened the show, are proof that these will continue to remain house signatures. I also liked the navy suede biker jacket topstitched with white and shown with silk bermudas, the navy blue and white striped cotton canvas jacket with topstitched skirt, his takes on the shirtdress- including an
evening version with pouf sleeves in striped taffeta- and a white cotton coat embroidered with silver thread.

But it was his color saturated evening finale (filled with coral, geranium, melon, Tuscan rose, and banner red) that were standouts in a season of great evening dresses, as well as his take on the old favorite- the crisp white shirt and elaborate evening skirt (his was rendered in strips of bright taffeta that had the look of a ribbon).
