It’s not every day that an American gets invited to show clothes during Haute Couture Week (just ask Donna Karan, who did not show, but was nonetheless at the Federation Francaise de la Couture party, looking wistful.) Rucci’s show was the marriage of American sportswear with European elegance. He worked with a lot of fur, and did beautiful parkas and ski pants for day. His eveningwear would fit into the “entrance-maker” genre---feathers, stoles and lots of voluminous fabric. For more about this designer, please click onto Marilyn Kirschner’s Letter from NY.
