During Alexander McQueen's tenure at Givenchy, he announced that house icon Audrey Hepburn "is dead"-- a true enfant terrible attitude. Fortunately, Mcqueen had some exciting ideas of his own and soon moved on to focus on his namesake label. London "bad boy" Julien Macdonald was brought into the house--a move some industry insiders regard as a setup to make Macdonald the fall guy in order to revamp Givenchy. After a few seasons of floundering, Macdonald decided to dedicate this collection to Hubert de Givenchy's muse, Ms. Hepburn. For those of you who might equate Ivana Trump with the opposite of Hepburn, then be warned: Ms. Trump adored this collection, which was based on suits and bodices with lattice work to reveal more than conceal, and fitted evening gowns. What do the pros say? Not enough couture. What are the rumours? Macdonald's days at Givenchy are numbered. Who is being whispered about as a replacement? None other than Dior menswear designer Hedi Slimane!
